My name means \u201cbeaming light\u201d in Chinese.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

I wonder what my parents had in mind for me when they named me. I know now what my heavenly Father had for me. His light was shining brightly on my life. He wants to use me for His glory. He wants to use my life as a professor in the nursing department to be a shining light for Him.<\/p>

When my husband and I married, we were not believers. We didn\u2019t know the beaming light of God\u2019s grace and forgiveness. As a wedding gift for my husband, I made a piece of art with the words of 1 Corinthian 13 on it. I had never read those words before.<\/p>

We hung the framed artwork on the wall, so we saw those words often. God, my Heavenly Father, used those words to draw me to Himself. \u201cLove is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant…. love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.\u201d<\/p>

Those words captured my attention. God used those words to prepare me to trust Him as my Lord and Savior. Missionaries in Taiwan, my native country, met with me and shared the gospel. My husband and I became believers in Christ. I began to walk in the light. I began to beam for Him. My two children came to know Jesus.<\/p>

In the fall of 2022, God called me to move to Johnson City, Tennessee, and to be an associate professor at East Tennessee State University. Just as God called Abraham to leave his comfort zone, so He called me to do the same.<\/p>

Sometimes, God leads us to go on an unknown way, a new road. We are to trust and not be afraid, knowing that everything has God\u2019s good purpose behind it.<\/p>

I was moving to a new place, where I didn\u2019t know anyone. I would be teaching at a new university. I wasn\u2019t sure what God had for me, but I knew His plan was good. We make plans in our hearts, but the Lord establishes our steps.<\/p>

In the first semester, one of my colleagues in the College of Nursing told me about Faculty Commons. I was very curious and interested. I began to attend the monthly meeting and Bible study. I made many new friends and met many other faculty believers.<\/p>

As I began my role as an associate professor, I endeavored to shine for Him. I wanted my life to beam with the life of Jesus Christ. I wanted to teach and live in such a way that students and others would see the light of Christ beam through me which is my calling in life.<\/p>

My ambition in life is that all of my life would be led by God, as His beaming light.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
