Montenegro is a small, mountainous country in south eastern Europe, being served by a small staff team in the capital city of Podgorica. Podgorica is home to around 25,000 University students, the majority of which have never heard about having a personal relationship with Jesus. Most of the students would identify as Serbian Orthodox, though this is more tied to their identity as Montenegrin or Serbian that it is tied to their heart. The University ministry has recently been relaunched, and students are very open to discussing their beliefs and spiritual things! We are trusting God to help us see this and future generations flourishing by connecting to God and one anther.
If you come to Montenegro, you can expect to experience the “polako život” or the slow life. Meeting students and spending many hours sitting at cafes, discussing your life, cultural differences, spirituality, and even what it’s like for you to follow Jesus. You will deepen relationships with other Americans on your team as you grow in your faith and ability to share it with others!
