For most of high school, Alondra’s world revolved around achievement. She poured herself into clubs, sports, and good grades, hoping to build the perfect résumé and make her family proud. But when the pandemic hit, life got harder. Struggles at home and a packed schedule left her exhausted and behind. When her grades slipped, she felt like her entire identity had collapsed. “I really thought the world would be better off without me,” she said.
“I really thought the world would be better off without me.”
Then, out of nowhere, a friend invited her to a Cru Fastbreak event. There, Alondra heard something she had never truly believed before—that God loved her, pursued her, and wanted her heart. As she listened, tears streamed down her face. When the speaker said her name and told her, “God loves you,” she felt like God Himself was speaking to her. In that moment, she realized her worth didn’t come from grades or performance or what anybody else thought—it came from being loved by Him.
That realization changed her life. Alondra says God met her when she was at her lowest and showed her she was never alone. Now she’s learning to trust Him completely and wants to help others experience the same freedom. “I just want to be an instrument for God,” she says, “because our world needs it.”
