Speaking in front of people used to feel like an impossible wall. Stuttering made simple conversations feel like battles, and the idea of sharing faith out loud seemed out of reach. But God began breaking down those barriers, placing people — friends and Cru leaders — who helped Canaan see that God doesn’t look for perfect speech, He looks at the heart.
At Fastbreak, everything changed. After a lifetime of avoiding public speaking, Canaan stood up and shared his testimony for the first time. In that moment, fear faded, and he realized that it wasn’t about his voice at all — it was about God’s Spirit speaking through him. What once felt like weakness became the very tool God used to reach others.

Now, as a college student mentoring freshmen through Cru, Canaan gets to do for others what his leader once did for him. He’s learned that self-worth isn’t built on ability or confidence but on God’s unshakable love. Even when the future feels uncertain, he trusts that God’s plan is good — and that He will keep using his voice to make His love known.
